The Folklore Handbag is a handmade bag weaved on a traditional waist loom by artisans from Chiapas, a southern Mexican state very popular for their ethnic diversity, skillfull workshops and colorful textiles. This style is embroidered with traditional Tzotzil (Sodsil) and Tzetzal (Sedsal) geometric patterns. These patterns represent nature motives like the Ceiba tree and animals like monkeys, frogs and jaguars. Poinsettia includes the technique of 'deshilado' or drawn threadwork. With deshilado, selected threads are pulled from the ground fabric; the rest are bound and reinforced with decorative stitching.This bag is a unique item.
